The British Empire course will engage in the study of continuity and change of the historical period towards the end of the period of British Empire. We'll be asking the question of why the British Empire expanded in the 1850s, and subsequently contracted. We shall then finally explore the period leading to the decline and collapse of the British Empire into the 1960s.
